Spring: the big reset

Focus areas for spring: washing all curtains and fabric blinds, cleaning behind and under furniture and appliances, washing windows inside and out, checking and cleaning extractor fans and vents, and decluttering winter clothes and belongings.
Summer: freshness and air quality
Summer is a good time to address outdoor areas that connect to the home: patios, garden furniture, and door and window frames. Inside, focus on air quality: cleaning ceiling fans, washing duvets and pillows, and deep cleaning bathrooms where humidity encourages mould. With windows open, summer is also a good season for cleaning painted walls and ceilings.
Autumn: pre winter preparation
Before winter sets in, autumn is the time to prepare: check gutters and clean outdoor drains, service your boiler and radiators (clean behind and beneath them), deep clean the kitchen before the cooking heavy festive season, and address any damp patches or condensation problems before cold weather makes them worse.

Winter brings more time spent indoors, which means higher demand on heating systems, more cooking smells, and more foot traffic. Focus on regular hoovering (particularly entrances), more frequent bathroom cleaning, keeping kitchen appliances clean with higher winter use, and maintaining good ventilation to reduce condensation and mould.
